At its biggest live-fire drill, Japan introduced the upgraded Type 12 missile launcher vehicle to the public for the first time.
Over 4,000 high school students and family members observed the event in Shizuoka, as part of a military recruitment initiative.
The four-tube system is installed on a high-mobility 8×8 platform and supports Japan’s emerging counterstrike doctrine.
Mass production commenced in 2023, with rollout to seven missile regiments across the country expected from 2025 onward.
