L3Harris Technologies and Joby Aviation are co-developing a new VTOL defense aircraft featuring hybrid manned-unmanned operation. Designed for low-altitude missions, it will use gas turbines and Joby’s S4 airframe. The system blends L3Harris’s defense tech with Joby’s airframe expertise. Testing starts this fall, with demonstrations expected next year. The platform will support diverse missions with options for autonomy or piloted use.
