At the International Paris Airshow in Le Bourget, Leonardo and Baykar Technologies officially announced the formation of a joint venture focused on the advancement of unmanned technologies. This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Rome earlier in March 2025. The newly established company, LBA Systems, will be equally owned by both partners (50% each) and will have its legal and operational base in Italy.

The joint venture will combine the industrial strengths of both companies across the entire lifecycle of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)—from design and development to production and maintenance. Baykar will lead the development of cutting-edge unmanned platforms, leveraging its extensive experience across the UAS sector. Leonardo will contribute advanced electronic systems, mission payloads, and expertise in Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T), swarming, and certification processes.

The partnership aims to pursue opportunities in both European and global markets, while also exploring additional areas of collaboration. These may include joint commercial initiatives involving Baykar and Leonardo platforms and potential cooperation within integrated multi-domain digital ecosystems.
