The US Army has issued Lockheed Martin a $52-million contract to support HIMARS and MLRS launcher operations through 2031. The work, conducted in Texas, includes maintenance, configuration, parts warehousing, and distribution. Both systems form the backbone of US precision-strike modernization and employ the same rocket families, including GMLRS. HIMARS offers rapid deployment and strategic mobility, while the MLRS provides armored survivability for intense combat environments. HIMARS’ battlefield success—from Ukraine to counter-ISIS operations—has driven strong international interest, with several allied nations ordering the system in 2024–2025.
