During a missile flight test, the US Army’s LTAMDS radar demonstrated new capabilities by detecting and engaging a surrogate target through the IBCS network. The trial marked its first use of LRIP hardware, secondary sector array engagement, and integration with a tactical power system. LTAMDS is the Army’s next-generation radar, designed to detect diverse threats including drones, ballistic missiles, and hypersonics. Production has started, and the Army intends to expand Patriot units with this advanced radar to boost air defense readiness.
