Northrop Grumman and the US Air Force successfully completed the first qualification test of the Sentinel ICBM’s second-stage solid rocket motor. Conducted in Tennessee’s Arnold Engineering Development Complex, the test simulated flight conditions to assess motor and Thrust Vector Control system performance. Engineers used digital modeling to enhance design accuracy and efficiency. The effort is part of a broader campaign to finalize Sentinel’s second-stage motor and modernize the US land-based nuclear deterrent by replacing the Minuteman III system.
