Northrop Grumman has successfully completed another production acceptance test of the solid rocket motor used in the US Army’s Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) Increment 1. Conducted at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in West Virginia, the test marked the company’s 16th consecutive successful validation, underscoring consistent performance and reliability. Northrop supplies the motor to Lockheed Martin, the missile’s prime contractor. PrSM is a cornerstone of the Army’s long-range precision fires modernization, offering significantly greater range than ATACMS while integrating with HIMARS and M270 launchers. The program is transitioning toward full-rate production following a $4.9-billion IDIQ contract awarded to Lockheed Martin in March 2025. Recent flight tests at White Sands Missile Range and plans to ramp production to 400 missiles annually highlight accelerating fielding momentum.
