A collaborative experiment between the US military and the Federal Aviation Administration has examined the use of high-energy laser systems for counter-drone operations. Conducted at White Sands Missile Range, the test explored how such technologies might be integrated into US airspace without compromising flight safety. Scientists measured the impact of laser beams on test structures resembling aircraft materials and studied safeguards designed to prevent accidental exposure. The research contributes to ongoing US efforts to develop advanced directed-energy defenses against unmanned aerial threats while maintaining coordination with civil aviation authorities.
