Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited has achieved a major milestone by delivering the Pinaka Enhanced Mk-I to the Indian Army, marking the first time a private Indian company has supplied such a system. The enhanced version of the Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher offers an extended range of 45 to 60 kilometers, significantly improving its operational reach compared to earlier variants. Despite the increased range, the system retains its core capability as an area-saturation weapon, capable of delivering a full salvo of 12 rockets in under a minute. When deployed in battery formation, it can neutralize large target areas, making it effective against troop concentrations and logistical hubs. The system also incorporates advanced technologies such as automated aiming and tracking systems, reducing response time and improving accuracy. This development aligns with India’s push for self-reliance in defense manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
