Red Cat Holdings has partnered with cybersecurity specialist SpiderOak to evaluate its Black Widow reconnaissance drone for inclusion on the US Department of Defense’s Blue UAS Cleared List. The program, overseen by the Defense Innovation Unit, ensures that unmanned systems meet strict cybersecurity, supply-chain integrity, and compliance requirements before adoption by US government users. SpiderOak will conduct penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and reviews of foreign ownership and control risks, aligning evaluations with NIST cybersecurity standards and federal executive orders. The assessment comes as Red Cat expands its defense footprint, driven by strong revenue growth and major US military drone contracts. If approved, the Black Widow could see expanded adoption across US defense and federal agencies.
