Sweden has awarded Saab a 60M SEK ($6.3M) contract to develop a Large Uncrewed Underwater Vehicle (LUUV). Comparable in size to a small submarine, it will map seabeds and detect undersea threats. Integrated with Saab’s Autonomous Ocean Core, the LUUV will operate independently above and below water. First trials are planned for 2026, with no weapons fitted in the initial stage.
