Texas-based Skyways has signed a $37-million contract with the US Air Force to move its V3 cargo drone into large-scale production.

As part of the contract, the firm will complete the final design, increase manufacturing capacity, and enhance the drone’s self-flying technologies.

The project’s aim is to eventually deliver thousands of V3 systems for deployment in various logistics operations, both military and commercial.

This milestone could secure the drone’s position as a permanent asset within the USAF’s logistics framework through Program of Record status.
