Slovenia has ordered two additional IRIS-T SLM air defense systems from Diehl Defence under the European Sky Shield Initiative. Following its January 2024 order, the new deal includes radars, operations centers, launchers, and support vehicles. The ESSI, launched post-Ukraine war, aims to strengthen NATO members’ joint air defense with layered and cost-effective solutions. IRIS-T SLM offers 360-degree coverage with a 40km range and is mounted on Rheinmetall MAN trucks.
