Sweden has modified its 2023 contract with MBDA to add more Common Anti-air Modular Missiles (CAMM) for the Royal Swedish Navy. The original deal also covered the Sea Ceptor system for Visby-class corvettes, which will be installed during a mid-life upgrade beginning in late 2025. Saab and MBDA will jointly manage the modernization, with the first upgraded ship expected by late 2026. The CAMM missile, central to the Sea Ceptor system, uses vertical launch technology with a very low signature, reducing enemy detection. With a 25-kilometer range and 10-kilometer altitude envelope, it delivers full-spectrum protection against multiple airborne threats. Its active RF seeker ensures all-weather performance without specialized illumination radars, and its compact size makes it suitable for vessels ranging from patrol craft to destroyers.
