Taiwan is developing cost-effective air defense interceptors to address increasing threats from China, particularly the use of low-cost weapons in large-scale attacks. The initiative, led by the National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology, aims to preserve high-end missile systems by deploying affordable solutions for lower-level threats. Testing is expected to begin next year as part of a broader effort to strengthen Taiwan’s layered defense network under the T-Dome concept. The system integrates multiple domestic and imported platforms, including Patriot and NASAMS, into a unified sensor-to-shooter network. This approach reduces response time and enhances overall defense efficiency. Taiwan’s increased defense spending reflects its commitment to maintaining a strong deterrent posture.
