The Royal Thai Air Force has signed a 3.44-billion-baht ($107-million) agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries for the Barak MX system, a key addition to Thailand’s air defense network. The purchase supports the service’s IADS modernization effort and provides a vital layer against evolving threats. Barak MX offers multiple interceptor types with reach from 35 to 150 kilometers, enabling medium-to-high altitude interception. Its combat performance was recently validated when it intercepted Iranian missiles during Israel’s “Rising Lion” operation. The new system will enhance Thailand’s defensive posture amid growing regional missile and rocket capabilities from Cambodia and Myanmar.
