In a boost to Britain’s advanced strike ambitions, the Ministry of Defence has awarded £12 million ($16.2 million) to Amentum UK to develop a hypersonic missile system.
The contract will lead to a demonstrator flight test and inform the creation of Mach 5-capable prototype missiles engineered for extreme thermal resilience and structural integrity.
Amentum will collaborate with Ebeni and Synthetik Applied Technologies UK Ltd through the Team Hypersonics (UK) framework, contributing to the UK’s wider strategy to introduce a hypersonic strike capability before 2030.
