France has successfully completed the first live-fire test of the SAMP/T NG air defense system, validating its next-generation engagement module and Ground Fire radar. Conducted at the Biscarrosse test range, the trial confirms progress toward deliveries scheduled for 2026. The system offers 360-degree coverage, long-range surveillance, and enhanced capability against ballistic, maneuvering, and saturation threats. Equipped with Aster 30 missiles and a fully digital AESA radar, SAMP/T NG is positioned as Europe’s primary medium- to long-range air defense alternative. The successful test strengthens prospects for broader European adoption and potential future support to Ukraine.
