Ukrainian startup Fold is developing a first-person view (FPV) drone capable of flying up to 100 kilometers, doubling the range of typical models. Unlike traditional FPVs that rely on radio links vulnerable to jamming, the system uses fiber-optic spools to maintain secure connectivity with its operator. The low-cost quadcopter, priced only a few hundred dollars, can carry explosive payloads sufficient to damage armored vehicles. By reducing vulnerability to electronic warfare, the design could provide Ukraine with a significant advantage in sustaining drone operations under heavy jamming.
