Volatus Aerospace, a Canadian company specializing in drone and aviation technologies, has purchased a suite of remotely piloted aircraft system assets from the UK’s Caliburn Holdings in a deal worth 2 million Canadian dollars. The acquisition includes designs, test results, and engineering materials that will help Volatus expand its line of long-range uncrewed aircraft. The package features three scalable fixed-wing UAS models capable of operating for up to seven days and carrying payloads between 15 and 50 kilograms. Volatus plans to use these systems to strengthen domestic aerospace production and support Canada’s defense and security goals. These platforms are suitable for missions such as border security, coastal patrol, and critical infrastructure inspection. Their modular architecture enables flexible deployment, allowing single or multiple units to operate together for complex missions. According to Volatus, the acquisition represents an investment in Canada’s aerospace independence and innovation. The new designs and technical data will enable faster product development and integration with emerging defense technologies. The company aims to position itself as a leader in long-endurance drone systems, supporting both commercial and government operations in surveillance, research, and environmental monitoring.
