Lockheed Martin recently tested a next-generation Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system powered by artificial intelligence to improve maritime surveillance capabilities. The trials, held off the U.S. West Coast, involved teams from the company’s AI Center, Skunk Works, and Rotary and Mission Systems. The system demonstrated the ability to autonomously detect and classify maritime targets with high precision and near real-time responsiveness. The AI-driven SAR system aims to significantly reduce operator workload and speed up decision-making in complex threat environments, reinforcing Lockheed Martin’s push toward integrating machine learning in advanced surveillance and targeting applications across military domains.
