Rheinmetall is repurposing its Berlin factory to support the growing demand for 155-millimeter artillery ammunition. The site, formerly used by its automotive subsidiary Pierburg, will now focus on producing steel shell casings that will be shipped to other plants for explosive filling and final assembly. The move reflects rising defense production across Europe following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Rheinmetall is expanding its global ammunition network with facilities such as the Werk Niedersachsen complex in Germany and additional plants in Spain, Hungary, and Lithuania to meet growing military demand.
