The Hurricane 3000, China’s newly disclosed truck-mounted microwave weapon, is designed to counter drones at extended ranges beyond earlier point-defense systems. Using radar for detection and electro-optical sensors for acquisition, it emits high-power microwaves to rapidly disable targets. Unlike conventional kinetic weapons, the system offers virtually unlimited shots at minimal cost and limited collateral impact. The platform was first glimpsed during China’s September military parade, with Norinco now providing further operational insights.
