The Indian Army intends to purchase more than $1 billion worth of Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher (MBRL) ammunition in a month. The procurement orders will be made before the end of the current fiscal year, which is March 31. The orders will be divided into two categories: area denial ammunition for 45 billion Indian rupees (about $520 million) and high-explosive pre-fragmented ammunition for 57 billion Indian rupees (about $660 million).
