The US Department of Defense has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract to support Canada’s acquisition of SPY-7 AESA radars, reinforcing Ottawa’s naval modernization plans. Known for its modular, software-upgradable design, SPY-7 supports air defense, ballistic missile defense, and surface surveillance missions. Although the Pentagon notice does not name the platform, the radar is closely linked to Canada’s surface combatant program, which will replace aging Halifax-class frigates over the coming decade.
