Germany is preparing a major procurement initiative involving approximately 500 MARS 3 rocket artillery launchers, a move that could significantly reshape the country’s long-range artillery capabilities. According to reports, the German armed forces intend to establish a framework agreement covering the multi-mission launchers, known in export markets as EuroPULS. Under the proposed plan, roughly half of the systems would be allocated to German military units while the remaining launchers would be made available to partner nations under the same procurement arrangement. Parliamentary review of the acquisition is expected during the second half of 2026, and the program may also include additional contracts for associated munitions. Initial procurement phases are expected to focus on rockets with a range of about 150 kilometers. Deliveries for German forces are projected to begin before the end of the decade. Later stages of the program may expand the range of capabilities to include thousands of rockets per year as well as additional weapon types such as loitering munitions and long-range missiles equipped with advanced guidance technologies. The system is part of the broader Precise and Universal Launching System (PULS) family, which several European countries have already adopted as they modernize their artillery forces.
