HENSOLDT has won radar contracts worth in excess of €100 million under the German-led European Sky Shield Initiative, further expanding its footprint in Europe’s integrated air defense programs.

The agreements with Diehl Defence cover the supply of additional TRML-4D radars, as well as maintenance and training support, for IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defense systems operated by several ESSI member states.

Featuring active electronically scanned array technology, the TRML-4D radar can detect, track, and classify a wide range of aerial threats, including drones, cruise missiles, rockets, and aircraft.

The company said ESSI is generating sustained demand for combined sensor-and-missile solutions, with digital, software-defined modular architectures helping to accelerate development and enhance performance across its radar portfolio.

HENSOLDT currently holds contracts for more than 150 radars within the ESSI framework, spanning the TRML-4D, Spexer short-range radar, and the Twinvis passive detection system.

These latest contracts reflect the broader momentum of ESSI, as European nations continue to sign cooperative procurement agreements to expand and modernize NATO-compatible air defense capabilities.
