As part of foreign military sales, the $245 million contract extension for the MK 48 Guidance and Control (G&C) program from the US Naval Sea Systems Command will benefit the US Navy as well as allied forces, such as Australia. The G&C component will improve the capabilities of the Mod 7, the most recent iteration of the MK 48 submarine-launched torpedo. By September 2027, it is anticipated that the project will be finished.
