India is advancing its indigenous defense capabilities through the development of a 150-kg class loitering munition UAV by CSIR-NAL and Solar Defence & Aerospace. The system is designed for long-range precision strike missions, with an estimated range of 900 kilometers and endurance of up to nine hours. Equipped with a 15-kg warhead, the drone is capable of targeting high-value assets such as radar installations and command centers. Key features include a domestically developed Wankel rotary engine, low radar cross-section design, and AI-based navigation for operations in GPS-denied environments. Prototype testing is expected to begin around 2028.
