Kazakhstan has established a dedicated artificial intelligence unit under its Ministry of Defense to lead the digital transformation of the armed forces. The unit will develop and deploy AI tools to enhance decision-making, optimize operations, and support various military missions. The initiative follows President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s directive to accelerate military digitization, focusing on AI-driven solutions for intelligence, surveillance, command, and logistics. Deputy Defense Minister Darkhan Akhmediev confirmed the unit will integrate modern AI capabilities into existing defense structures, improving efficiency and operational readiness. The AI unit is expected to enhance threat analysis, automate routine tasks, and provide predictive insights to commanders, enabling faster and more accurate responses to evolving security challenges.
