A $22.8 million contract has been awarded to Absher Construction Company for the development of a new Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV) support facility at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, Washington. The project also includes a $1 million package for furniture, fixtures, equipment, and enhanced security systems.

The upcoming facility will consist of five maintenance divisions, a paint booth, and a blast booth. Initial work will focus on site preparation, including structural fill across forested terrain and installation of stormwater management systems. Following this, a custom-engineered metal structure will be built to house the maintenance operations.

Once operational, the center will provide full-spectrum sustainment services for AFVs. It will feature specialty bays, office spaces, and a large vehicle receiving yard. This infrastructure is intended to ensure that the Marine Corps Security Force Battalion Bangor remains fully equipped to secure the Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific—the Navy’s key hub for ballistic missile submarine operations in the Pacific.

MCSFBn Bangor fields a range of armored platforms, including Humvees, MRAPs, and light armored vehicles. The project is scheduled for completion by October 2027 and will be coordinated by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command.
