The “Lumberjack,” Northrop Grumman’s one-way attack drone, was just unveiled at the Modern Day Marine expo in Washington, DC. The modular, jet-powered loitering munition is capable of being launched from the ground or the air and can operate autonomously or under human control via an onboard data connection that allows for real-time communication. The Lumberjack may be equipped to fire submunitions, such as the company’s six-pound (2.7-kilogram) payload, in kinetic strikes, reconnaissance, or electronic warfare.
