The US Defense Microelectronics Activity has selected Northrop Grumman as one of the contractors eligible to receive task orders worth up to $25 billion under its Advanced Technology Support Program V.
ATSP V is intended to streamline the introduction of US-sourced microelectronics into military and federal platforms.
Through the program, Northrop Grumman can respond to government requests for proposals within a 30-day window, with the overall acquisition process expected to move from proposal to award in approximately 80 to 90 days.
The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity structure gives the Department of Defense and other agencies rapid access to a wide range of engineering solutions, from advanced semiconductor manufacturing and packaging to emerging materials technologies.
Nine additional companies are participating in the program, including Raytheon, L3Harris Technologies, Leidos, HII Mission Technologies, and the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory.
ATSP V represents the latest step in a sustained US push to reinforce domestic microelectronics capabilities for defense use.
Previous initiatives include GlobalFoundries’ $3.13-billion Trusted Access Program contract awarded in 2023 and IBM’s $576-million DMEA contract in 2024 supporting secure semiconductor production for military and national security systems.
