US-based L3Harris and Italy’s ELT Group have partnered to establish Italy’s first multi-sensor test facility for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions—marking the first such center outside the United States. The facility aims to boost mission readiness and strengthen ISR and electronic warfare capabilities for both Italy and its allies. It will directly support two key programs: the Joint Airborne Multi-Mission Multi-Sensor System (JAMMS) and the EA-37B Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft, both built on the Gulfstream G550 platform. In a related development, Italy recently awarded L3Harris a $300 million contract for two G550 aircraft equipped with advanced electromagnetic warfare systems. The deal, made in collaboration with BAE Systems, marks the first instance of the US approving the export of the EA-37B to an international partner.
