The Indian Ministry of Defense has awarded a 461.9 million rupee ($5.2 million) contract to Paras Anti-Drone Technologies for the provision of advanced counter-UAV systems to the nation’s armed forces. These systems employ sophisticated radio frequency jamming and signal disruption to detect and neutralize hostile unmanned aerial vehicles operating in sensitive border and high-security areas. Capable of covering frequencies ranging from 400 MHz to 6 GHz, the Paras solution is configurable to address diverse UAV threats under various environmental conditions. India has increasingly invested in domestic anti-drone technologies in response to rising aerial incursions, particularly along the Pakistan border, where drones have been reportedly used for smuggling, surveillance, and weapon delivery. The Indian Air Force has integrated similar systems into airbase defenses, and the Border Security Force deploys specialized anti-drone units for enhanced protection of critical regions. These systems were also utilized during significant events such as the 2023 G20 Summit and Republic Day, demonstrating their operational effectiveness. Supporting local defense manufacturing and self-reliance, the initiative aligns with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign, fostering a robust domestic ecosystem for innovative security solutions.
