Sweden has signed a contract with Finnish arms manufacturer Sako to supply an additional 22,500 Automatkarbin 24 (AK 24) assault rifles to its armed forces. This procurement is part of a bilateral defense cooperation agreement established with Finland in March 2021, aimed at modernizing both countries’ small arms inventories to meet emerging operational challenges. The initial order under this framework was announced in March 2023.
