Azerbaijan has reached a defense procurement agreement with Slovakia for the acquisition of SAM-120 automated mortar systems under a framework deal covering 96 units initially, with potential expansion to 300 systems. The agreement was finalized between ZŤS Špeciál and Azerbaijan’s Iglin enterprise during the Riyadh defense exhibition. The first tranche is valued at €210 million, with immediate production planned. Slovak authorities described the arrangement as one of the country’s largest defense exports and signaled possible technology transfer or local manufacturing cooperation. The SAM-120 system is a fully automated 120mm artillery platform capable of 360-degree engagement, firing up to 20 rounds per minute at targets up to 8 kilometers away.
