In South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea performed the inaugural flight of its prototype for a mine countermeasures rotary wing aircraft that was manufactured in the country.
The demonstration is a component of a 347.7-billion-won ($256.6 million) program that was announced in 2022 to give the Republic of Korea Armed Forces a local helicopter that can assist naval minehunter ships.
The platform will then be put through comprehensive testing to confirm its flight performance, technology infrastructure, and safety procedures.
The aircraft’s development will then be carried out by the program’s leaders, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) and Korea Aerospace Industries, until 2026.
