The US Army has collaborated with industry partners to develop a next-generation small arms barrel designed for improved durability and performance under high-pressure conditions. Using a new alloy developed by Carpenter Technology and advanced manufacturing techniques by Geissele Automatics, the barrels demonstrated superior wear resistance during testing. The project highlights the Army’s use of cooperative agreements to advance weapon technologies.
