The US Army and AMTEC Corporation have inaugurated a new 40mm grenade production line and indoor testing range in Janesville, Wisconsin, as part of efforts to expand domestic munitions manufacturing capacity. Backed by a $21-million investment, the facility produces the M918E2 high-velocity training cartridge using automated processes that improve consistency and output. The new line supports safer training by reducing unexploded ordnance risks and enhancing realism, while the on-site test range streamlines quality assurance. The project reflects broader army initiatives to modernize ammunition production amid rising global demand.
