The US Army Reserve has begun integrating SpaceX’s Starshield communication platform to improve battlefield decision-making. The laser-enabled technology offers global, high-speed connectivity with data transfer rates between 300 and 500 megabits per second and latencies as low as 25 milliseconds. This capability allows soldiers anywhere in the world to link devices seamlessly for real-time operational updates. The system operates under a five-terabyte global plan, essentially converting Starlink terminals into Starshield-equipped systems. According to an Army captain, this transformation ensures secure and rapid information sharing in contested environments.
