FN America has provided the US Department of Defense with samples of two 6.5mm prototype systems, including the LICC-Individual Weapon System and the LICC-Assault Machine Gun, along with associated magazines, suppressors, and ammunition. The IWTSD will evaluate the systems under realistic operational conditions, assessing ballistic performance, transportability, maintainability, and usability under stress. The weapons are part of a broader effort to explore expeditionary and irregular warfare capabilities, and passing tests could open the path for further contracts or deployment.
