Ukrainian defense manufacturer STG has launched a new thermal-imaging camouflage poncho designed to reduce soldier visibility to enemy surveillance. The innovation was showcased at the Brave1 Defense Tech Valley 2025 exhibition, highlighting its role in enhancing soldier survivability. Using advanced stealth technology, the poncho reduces thermal detection in the infrared spectrum. It is capable of concealing a soldier’s thermal footprint up to 100 meters (328 feet) in forested terrain and up to 250 meters (820 feet) in open areas. Such performance significantly improves the ability of troops to evade detection by thermal imaging devices commonly deployed in modern battlefields. The poncho represents a lightweight and portable solution, allowing individual soldiers to carry stealth capability without reliance on larger systems. This development reflects Ukraine’s broader focus on soldier-centric technologies that improve survivability in contested environments. The introduction of the camouflage poncho also demonstrates Ukraine’s capacity to innovate despite wartime challenges.
