Japan has allocated $14.7 million to NATO’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List, a procurement mechanism that finances priority US-manufactured military equipment for Ukraine. While Tokyo maintains restrictions limiting its support to non-lethal military assistance, the contribution highlights Japan’s growing cooperation with NATO and continued backing of Ukraine. The funding complements billions of dollars already committed by Japan in humanitarian and reconstruction assistance since Russia’s invasion. The move also reflects expanding defense-industrial collaboration between Japan and Ukraine in areas such as drones, air defense technologies, and counter-UAS systems.
