L3Harris Technologies has been selected by the US Army to deliver its next-generation binocular night-vision system under a contract worth up to $465 million. The award supports the Binocular Night Observation Device program over seven years, with L3Harris supplying its NOVA helmet-mounted system. NOVA is designed to enhance situational awareness across all weather and lighting conditions using advanced image intensifier technology. The system builds on existing night-vision platforms and is intended to meet operational needs for the next two decades. This procurement is part of a broader modernization effort aimed at replacing legacy optics with lighter, more capable digital solutions. The US Army has already fielded over 20,000 Enhanced Night Vision Goggle–Binocular units, also supplied by L3Harris, demonstrating a sustained commitment to improving soldier lethality and survivability. Other suppliers such as Elbit Systems have also contributed to modernization programs, highlighting a competitive ecosystem driving innovation in night-fighting technologies.
