The Czech Republic has approved the procurement of 44 Leopard 2A8 tanks from KNDS Deutschland under a contract worth 32.76 billion koruna ($1.56 billion). An additional 1.49 billion koruna ($71 million) will cover customization, while 5 billion koruna ($239 million) is reserved for exchange rate risks. The package includes protection systems, spare parts, logistics, and training. Prague may expand the order by 14 more tanks, supplementing variants such as recovery, engineering, and bridging vehicles. The purchase follows the country’s transfer of its older T-72 tanks to Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.
