The US Army is strengthening its CBRN response capabilities through the acquisition of Teledyne FLIR Defense’s SkyRaider unmanned aerial systems. Under an $11.2-million contract, the company will supply more than 45 drones equipped with specialized sensors for biological and hazardous material detection. The aircraft are intended to support dismounted personnel by surveying potentially contaminated environments and providing real-time intelligence on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. By integrating advanced sensing technologies with autonomous flight capabilities, the SkyRaider system improves operational safety and accelerates decision-making in hazardous conditions.
