The European Union has approved a new 100-million-euro ($116-million) assistance package for the Lebanese Armed Forces as part of efforts to reinforce stability following a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. The funding is intended to strengthen Lebanon’s military institutions and enhance their ability to maintain security during a period of ongoing tensions and sporadic violence. The latest package increases total EU military assistance to Lebanon to approximately 182 million euros and reflects continued European support for strengthening state institutions and reducing the influence of non-state armed groups.
