Australian defense technology company DroneShield has developed RfRecon, a handheld radio-frequency intelligence system designed to give operators a compact tool for detecting, identifying, locating, and assessing signals on the battlefield. The system integrates several capabilities into a portable package, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Remote ID, ship and aircraft detection, an integrated Global Navigation Satellite System, and hardware-based security features. RfRecon combines ultra-wideband coverage, direction finding, and signals intelligence within an open architecture. Its use of common data formats is intended to simplify integration with existing military networks and systems. By consolidating multiple RF intelligence functions into a single handheld device, the platform is designed to improve operators’ ability to understand and assess the electromagnetic environment in operational areas. The system’s architecture also supports connectivity with other networks and applications, potentially allowing information collected in the field to contribute to broader situational awareness. RfRecon represents DroneShield’s effort to make advanced RF sensing and intelligence capabilities more portable for battlefield users.
