Russia has commenced production of Su-34M supersonic combat aircraft for Algeria, confirming earlier speculation of a major arms deal between the two allies. Satellite images show several jets painted in Algeria-style desert camouflage, strongly indicating their destination. The deal originated from a 2019 contract involving 14 Su-34MEs, alongside Su-35Es and Su-57Es, with deliveries set through 2025. These aircraft are expected to replace Algeria’s aging Su-24M strike fleet, significantly improving long-range strike capabilities and reinforcing its status as Africa’s most heavily armed air force.
